about

I retired and took a trip to Asia in April 2021 for complete isolation to write a Beatle record. I wrote this song and sent it to Dan Swan and Rhesa Siregar saying, "I hate this, should I throw it out"? Dan said, "no, make it a pop song" and Rhesa said, "no way, it's a great melody, you can never go wrong". Why would I hate this song? Because I didn't think it was Beatle enough, it wasn't Boulevard (my next song because I wanted to write an Abbey Road medley foremost).

If you had told me the day I sent out the email from half way across the world that this song would be the opening track of a 33 minute album I would have laughed non stop for an hour! This song was indeed a pop song and was initially a song I wanted to be my "And I Love Her" track but it seemed more like a Harrison kind of song, so we tailored the guitar like "Here Comes the Sun" and actually had a Sitar solo that was replaced by a 12 string guitar because Jeff and I (the producers) simply hated the Sitar. haha

Jeff "Chet" Lester of the Eels brought this track to life with his guitar work and made it exciting in our eyes. Thereafter I arranged the back ground vocals to give the song more life and ultimately sung so well by Jasmine. The live strings from Andrew just made the song come together even more! I have recently been told by more than one person that this was a song to be played on repeat. Not bad for a throw-away song! :-)

I already mentioned the Beatle references above, but I purposely went up to a falsetto on the last word of the bridge to give you a "She Loves You" flash perhaps, the ooooh! I guess Harrison started the Revolver album with Taxman, so why not his influence start Merseyside is how I see it! -Paul

lyrics

Ever Yours
(Gentry/Siregar)

Ever born to see your face love
A vision in my mind
As I close my eyes I see you
There forever mine
We're called to love with binding hearts
Each breath will take us closer to eternity
Our world to be, and I my love am yours, ever yours

We turn around and life's before you
Each step defines our time
Memories of your love, your beauty
Sharing in paradise
A voice that cries within our soul
I hear you whisper, telling me that it's alright
We'll never die and I my love am yours, ever yours

What do I do when you're not there
So lost without a care
And I know I'm never the same when I am without you

We're called to love with binding hearts
Each breath will take us closer to eternity
Our world to be, and I am yours my love, ever yours
