about

This was written for my brother Frank. We had seen each other two months before and had watched and listened to the Eagles for a few days, so it was in my mind I needed to write a similar song because who doesn't like the Eagles. The hook hit me while I was looking for a shirt in the closet in it's entirety. I'm like wow, got it, this is pretty good! haha

I was on top of the world near the arctic circle heading towards Scotland when I felt uneasy, I had no cell phone reception but turned it on and saw I had a message from Wanda, Franks wife, I knew it couldn't be good as he was in the hospital in March but I was hoping he'd taken a turn for the better. I knew before I even called Frank was gone. The best way I could grieve was writing this song and working Frank into it as he would have loved it I'm sure.

I remembered he had a 65 Ford Mustang and a driving song lyrically made sense for this type song. I also knew he'd not want a sad song, so I thought of musicians who had left this world already like Glenn Frye or Randy Meisner who live on though music. I also remembered Frank and I getting lost driving his car and listening to songs we loved for hours one night and knew I had a way of working the song with this in mind.

A touch of nostalgia was important as well as his youth in the 1960s was really the best time in the USA in my opinion. This was written in May and I started recording as soon as I got back to the USA by recording the lead vocal in Portland, Oregon with my co-producer and engineer Jeff and "The Eels" joined in on bass, drums and guitar along with my friend Ed Goldfarb (the Pokemon main music guy) on keyboards. Lydia Salnakova and Darren joined in on extensive background vocals that we formed together cause if you have an Eagles song, great backups is a must.

The mix was very difficult but Jeff pulled it off in a three day period and the cherry on the top was having a 5 time Grammy winner, Gavin Lurssen master this song. Frank deserved the best and I say goodbye to him with this song until we meet again.
